Welcome, from the Principals Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,
Southbrook Central is a terrific school!

I, along with a committed staff and a pro-active community will continue on our journey to make this school a truly effective one for your child/ren.  Southbrook Central will continue its improvement agenda focusing on up to date curriculum, and a range of quality teaching practices and programs that align with the national Curriculum and Education Queensland’s Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) framework. Our school aims to be innovative and provide a broad range of opportunities for your child/ren as we prepare our young people to live in 21st century society.

When you enrol your child/ren at this school, we enter an important partnership. This partnership, between teachers, parents, students and the school community works to achieve the best educational opportunities and outcomes
within a positive and disciplined environment. There is an expectation that all children at this school will be able to work and play in an ordered, safe, secure and warmly supportive and productive learning environment.

Excellent schools are marked by a high level of parent involvement. I have observed the high level of passion, support and energy across our school community. May I encourage you and every parent to actively participate in the excitement of the education of your child/ren?
When partners (teachers, parents and students) work together, the education delivered is going to be the best it can be. The supportive messages parents give to their children regarding education and schooling are so important. I invite parents to become actively involved with the school via the P & C, becoming a classroom volunteer, helping with our Tuckshop/bookclub/uniform shop and being generally involved in school activities.

To enable this partnership to work effectively we need to have good communications to you through newsletters, parent interviews, informal chats, report cards and special meetings and events. If you have any concerns or issues, you will always be welcome to talk to your child’s teacher. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for an appointment. I look forward to our journey together to deliver the best possible education for your child.

Warmest regards
Terri-Anne Simpson
Principal
